Skin Care Recommendations for Rosacea Disease

Skin Care Recommendations for Rosacea Disease

Skin Care Recommendations for Rosacea:

Establishing a proper skin care routine in conjunction with the treatment of rosacea will help to reduce symptoms and increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

For this, attention should be paid to the following:

  1. Cleanse your face twice a day – very gently.

People with rosacea may hesitate to wash their face for fear of dryness and irritation, but the face should be washed twice a day with a gentle washing product.

How should face washing be in rosacea?

Use a mild face wash that is suitable for rosacea and does not dry the skin, you may prefer cream-like products (do not use soap)

Gently apply the cleanser with your fingertips.

Rinse off the cleanser with warm water using only your fingertips.

If some of the cleanser remains on your skin, it can cause irritation, so rinse thoroughly until it is completely removed.

Gently wipe your face with a clean cotton towel.

  1. Moisturize your skin every day.

A moisturizer can help hydrate your skin by trapping water in your skin, reduce irritation and make your skin feel more comfortable.

  1. Protect your skin from the sun all year round.

The sun can worsen rosacea.

How to choose sunscreen for rosacea?

Sunscreens with mineral filters containing zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or both should be preferred.

Sunscreen may contain silicone (listed as dimethicone, or cyclomethicone or cyclomethicone)

Fragrance-free: Choose a fragrance-free sunscreen

Broad spectrum protection (Your sunscreen should provide protection for UVA and UVB)

Choose SPF 30 or higher protection factor

  1. Choose rosacea-friendly skin care products.

In the presence of rosacea, many skin care products and cosmetics can irritate your skin. While gentle cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection can help reduce this sensitivity, you should also choose your skin care products and makeup carefully

To reduce the likelihood of buying a product that will irritate your skin, avoid any product that contains

Alcohol

Camphor

Fragrance

Exfoliative ingredients (AHA, glycolic acid, lactic acid)

Menthol

Sodium lauryl sulfate (often found in shampoos and toothpastes)

Urea

Instead of lotion or gel form, opt for the cream form, which has a denser structure.

Do not use tonic

  1. Test skincare and makeup products before applying them to your face.

If everything you apply to your face seems to cause discomfort, it may help to test it first. To test a product, apply a small amount near (but not on) the skin where the disease is active. Within 72 hours, if it irritates your skin (burning, stinging, etc.), do not use the product

  1. Be gentle with your skin.

Anything that irritates your skin can worsen rosacea. To avoid this, avoid rubbing your face. Facial cleansing cloths, wipes, brushes, scrubs are not suitable for rosacea.

Making these tips part of your skincare routine can help you take better care of your rosacea-prone skin.

If you have trouble finding skin care products that do not irritate your skin, your dermatologist can examine your skin and make recommendations for your skin’s specific needs.
