What is HIFU?
HIFU, “High Intense Focused Ultrasound”, which means high intensity focused ultrasound, is a treatment method that provides tightening in the deep layers of the skin with sound waves.
How is HIFU Applied?
Before HIFU treatment, the physician determines the needs and evaluates the area to be treated. After the face is cleaned, a thin layer of ultrasound gel is applied to the face. Then, the head of the device is brought into contact with the skin and the targeted SMAS layer to be treated is imaged with ultrasound and concentrated and focused sound energy is sent to the detected depth. This sound energy causes a controlled heat increase in the SMAS tissue and triggers healing processes. Tightening is provided in the SMAS tissue. The tightening seen in this suspensory and carrier connective tissue provides a 3-dimensional tightening and lifting effect on the skin surface.
